Coziness is Key

What's your cozy?

For me, it’s orange slices and hot chocolate in my Beatrix Potter cup, endless beeswax candles. My lemon scented lotion, my hair braided, the turquoise pillows on my couch. Sketches and postcards tucked into picture frames.

It's children's literature (with or without my kiddo around) and napping in my cashmere sweater. It's CBC radio in the background, watering the plants. Stacks of library books—most of which I’ll make no attempt to read. It's ritual and it's important to my health.

‘Make yourself cozy,’ I often say to my daughter. When I intentionally create coziness—especially these days—it can be the antidote to feeling trapped, cooped up, stuck.

Ah, I hear the kettle boiling!
